Yes, 100% free with no obligation. We don't charge for estimates or consultations. If you decide not to move forward, no hard feelings — we'd rather earn your trust than pressure you into a contract.

How far in advance should I book?

For smaller jobs (handyman repairs, painting, drywall), we can often get on the schedule within 1–2 weeks. For larger remodels, decks, or fencing projects, 3–6 weeks is typical depending on the season. Spring and summer book up fast — the earlier you reach out, the better.

Yes, we typically require a deposit before ordering materials or scheduling your project start date. The deposit amount varies by project size and is outlined clearly in your contract. We never ask for full payment upfront.

Do you offer a first responder or military discount?

Yes. Triston is a former EMT and volunteer firefighter, so this one is personal. We offer a discount for active and retired first responders, military, and veterans. Just mention it when you reach out and we'll apply it to your estimate.

What information should I have ready when I call?

The more detail the better — project type, rough dimensions if you have them, any photos you can text or email, and your timeline. Don't worry if you don't have everything figured out. We're used to starting from scratch and helping homeowners think through what they actually need.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Flatline Contracting LLC is fully licensed in Missouri and carries general liability insurance. We're also BBB Rated with an A Rating since February 2024. You can ask for proof of insurance at any time — we're happy to provide it.

Do you pull permits?

Yes, when a permit is required by local code, we pull it. We handle the permit process so you don't have to deal with the paperwork. Skipping permits might save a few dollars upfront but can cause serious problems when you sell your home — we won't cut that corner.

What if something gets damaged during the project?

Our general liability insurance covers accidental damage to your property during the course of work. We document the job site before and after, and we'll make it right if something unexpected happens. That's the Flatline standard.

Do you use subcontractors?

Rarely, and only for licensed trade work that requires a separate license — like electrical or plumbing rough-in. When we do, we vet them ourselves and they're held to the same standard we hold ourselves to. All general carpentry, framing, drywall, painting, fencing, and remodeling work is done by us directly.

Will you be on the job site yourself?

Yes. Triston is owner-operated — meaning he's personally on every job, not just sending a crew. You hired Flatline Contracting, so you get Flatline Contracting. No subcontracting your project out to someone you've never met.

How long will my project take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the scope. A fence installation might take 1–2 days. A full kitchen remodel could take 3–6 weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeline in your estimate and keep you updated if anything changes. We don't pad timelines to look good — we give you the honest picture.

Question 13

What happens if the project runs into unexpected issues?

We communicate immediately. If we open a wall and find something that changes the scope (rotted framing, outdated wiring, etc.), we stop, show you what we found, explain your options, and get your approval before proceeding. No surprise invoices.

Do I need to be home during the work?

Not necessarily. Many clients give us a key or door code and go about their day. We treat your home with respect whether you're there or not. For the initial walkthrough and final walkthrough, we do ask that you're present so we can review everything together.

Do you work in the winter or bad weather?

Yes, for most interior work — drywall, flooring, painting, remodeling. Exterior projects like fencing, decks, and roofing depend on conditions. We won't rush a job in weather that would compromise the quality or safety of the work. If weather causes a delay, we'll communicate it right away and reschedule as soon as conditions allow.

How do you handle cleanup at the end of each day?

We clean up the work area every day before we leave — tools put away, debris cleared, and your home left in a livable condition. We're not the crew that leaves a disaster zone for you to navigate around every evening. Final cleanup at project completion includes hauling away all construction debris.

How do you price your work?

We price by the project, not by the hour. Your estimate will be itemized so you can see exactly what you're paying for — materials, labor, and any subcontracted work (like electrical or plumbing if needed). We don't do vague lump-sum quotes.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept check, cash, and most major credit cards. Payment schedule is outlined in your contract — typically a deposit upfront, progress payments for larger jobs, and final payment upon completion and your approval.

Can I supply my own materials?

In some cases, yes. If you've already purchased materials or have a specific product in mind, let us know during the estimate. We'll factor that into the quote. Keep in mind that if customer-supplied materials are defective or incorrect, that can affect the warranty on our labor.

We don't offer in-house financing, but we accept major credit cards which gives you the flexibility to use your own card's payment plan or rewards. For larger projects, we're also happy to structure a payment schedule — deposit, progress payments, and final payment — so the cost is spread across the project timeline rather than all due at once.

Always. Every project gets a written contract that spells out the scope of work, materials, timeline, payment schedule, and what's not included. We don't do handshake deals — a clear contract protects both of us and keeps everyone on the same page from day one.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. We stand behind our labor. If something we built or installed fails due to workmanship within the warranty period, we'll come back and fix it at no charge. Warranty terms vary by project type and are spelled out in your contract. Material warranties are separate and come from the manufacturer.

What if I'm not happy with the finished result?

We do a final walkthrough with you before we consider the job done. If something isn't right, we want to know about it on the spot — not two weeks later. We won't ask for final payment until you're satisfied. Our reputation in this community matters more than any single invoice.

Any change to the original scope — whether it's adding work, removing it, or swapping materials — gets documented as a written change order with updated pricing before we proceed. No verbal agreements, no surprise charges. You approve it in writing, then we move forward.
